Today, my blog topic is the book "My Name Is Parvana"! This book is the last book in the Breadwinner's TRILOGY! I am so sad that the series is going to end off at this last book. Anyways, if you have read the other books in the series, you would know, that Parvana is an Afghanistan Native girl who is now 16. She has lost all of her family in bomb blasts and raids, and even after she thought everything was better, things just got worse.
In this book, Parvana, now lives with her mom, Hassan, Asif, and Nooria. During the book Parvana makes many friends but also loses some. Her mother gets killed about halfway through the book by some people that think women should not be allowed to go to school as education would be wasted on them. I personally think that this view is wrong. I believe that women are just as capable of doing what men can. Anyways, Parvana closes down the school after her mom dies and since now she is the eldest, she takes the remainder of her family and sets out to find a new place to live and she meets her old friend Shauzia along the way. In the end after she gets caught by the American Military who try everything to make her talk but to no avail, make the decision to kill her, her mom's old time friend
Ms. Weera shows up with papers for letting Parvana go at the last second. It turned out that Ms. Weera had joined the Afghan government and was running for Minister. In the end Parvana decides to stay in Afghanistan and help other children like her have a better life.
I love the trilogy as I mentioned earlier and I truly believe that this is the best of the three, and Ms. Ellis did no job in making it a hit. My favorite character is Parvana as she truly portrays how a child lives in Afghanistan. I am really sad that this is the last book but am also happy as Parvana is finally truly going to have a better life.
