Portrait

For this project, we were to create an image/images that were a portrait of someone or something. The reason I have two images is because I couldn't choose which one I liked better, and because I wanted to try and stick with my concentration which is animals. When I tried to create one image, I considered using overlay on these two images however when I tried it, they didn't line up well at all. There are certain qualities I like about each of these but I don't believe that one is actually stronger than the other. I like how in the image of the cat you can see all the details and the legs and feet almost create leading lines to her face. I also like how she isn't looking at the camera so it's very candid. To edit this photo, I sharpened it so you could see more details and textures would pop, and I put it in black and white in attempt to make the background less distracting. In the photo of the baby (Annalise) it was taken at a basketball game which had terrible lighting so I enhanced it and put the image in black and white which helped resolve the lighting issue a lot. What I really like about the image of Annalise is how centered it is and how she's looking directly at the camera. What I like better about this image is that the background isn't the slightest bit distracting unlike the first image. I'm proud of both of these images, I think they could both use some more composition ruels however I don't think that the lack of them takes away from either images.
