Concentration

My centeral idea for my concentration was pets. I chose this because I find that I have a soft spot for animals, and I'm always taking pictures of them so I thought this would be a good opportunity to take more. I also thought about specifically taking pictures of just my pets, however, I felt as if that could get boring and not as creative as it could be.

The work in my concentration demonstrates the exploration of my idea because I tried to be as creative as I could with editing and taking images that were from a different perspective from how we may see them. I actually did end up having the majority of my images be of my cats which was not on purpose but I liked how they turned out because it gave me the opportunity to try new edits- like the lion one and different perspectives. All of my images were of animals like they were supposed to and I feel like I did make it a good variety of photo's like I wanted.

For this final assignment we had to take images from previous projects that contained our concentration which we chose in the beginning of the quarter and mine was animals. Some of these were taken from previous projects and some I recently took. I like how much these images differ- meaning their edits. Some are black and white, others are overlayed, and some have bright colors plus all the different angles that the images were taken in. My idea was to take pictures of a bunch of different animals but I almost like how it's mostly of my cats because it gave me the opportunity to capture them doing different things from many different angles and make cool edits. Something I tried to focus on while taking all these images were the lighting. I wanted to make sure I had as much natural lighting as possible, knowing it would automatically make the images stronger. I also kept in mind all of our composition rules. I used a lot of close up, angle down, selective focus, leading lines and sharp focus. By making sure I used as many as possible, I noticed a huge difference in my photo's overall which is why I think so many of these are my strongest images taken.
