Family Dynamics

For this assignment, we had to take an image that represented our family dynamics. I took a picture at a cookout of my dad and my uncle. I thought this was a good picture to use because my dad and Jim are super close and are a lot alike and I thought it was funny that they were making the same face and standing the same way. I struggled in the darkroom because the lighting in the photo is very different in some spots because some of the corners are super dark and others are really light. My first print, the lighting was very weird, grey, and not exposed for long enough. So obviously I needed to fix it. To fix it, instead of exposing the paper for 3 seconds, I exposed it for 5. This image came out very well, but it was a little too grey and the boarder wasn't straight. My last print came out very well. It had rich darks, clear lights and a good boarder. This print came out very strong despite the difficulties I was having in the dark room.
