Word Graphic

This is my word graphic picture. In this project, I had to take a noun and make whatever the noun was with the letters of it. I got pebble as my word, so I had to make pebbles out of the letters of the word. I was able to use any materials on this project. I chose to use graphite and fine-point sharpie markers. So, what I did was draw a bunch of pebbles and then made cracks in the rocks create the word pebble.

After receiving my word, I had to brainstorm ideas. Pebble was a tough word to work with, so it took awhile to decide on a design. I drew all my ideas on scrap paper. After deciding on this design, I took a medium sized piece of drawing paper and began by using graphite. First, I drew in the pebbles, making some overlap to give a sense of depth. After this, I shaded in the pebbles to make them look realistic. Finally, I drew in the cracks to form the words; first with graphite and then with a sharpie. This marked the completion of my word graphic project.

Even though it took a while to figure out the design, I am overall happy with how it turned out. I decided to do this because I thought it would be a cool visual effect to have the words made up of separate pieces (the cracks) rather than making the word pebble out solid lines. I am happy with the effect this has created. I think a strong point of the piece is the shading of pebbles because I think they appear very detailed and realistic. There's not much that I can think of that I would like to change if I had to start over.
