Reflective Self Portraits

Artist Statement:

The subject of this image is me; the setting of this image is of my eye in a heart-shaped mirror. This image was made by developing the image with a paint brush, then doing the same chemical processes as normal. I chose to create this image by incorporating shapes; which can help to have people focus on one part of the image. I also wanted to create emphasis to my eye. Some compositional rules that are showcased in this image is framing; the heart is framing my eye, which is making that the main focus of the image. This project didn't evolved in any way. The meaning behind this image is to love what you see in the mirror; and if you happen to not love it at all, find something you love about what is in the reflection. This relates to my life because I do have a hard time staying true to myself, but still encourage myself to not care how others see me. One thing to look out for next time, is to properly fix the image for the designated time; I had noticed with the print it was tinting blue based on this error.
