Leading Lines

Artist Statement:

For this assignment, we went on a walk on the school campus to take images of leading lines. Leading lines is a line basically "leading" to the subject. I took many interesting leading line images, but the print I decided to develop was my favorite. I had made this print/image by taking an image of a picnic table leading to a tree in the background. Then, did the whole process of rolling the film and making the negatives. The next step was to make a contact sheet of all of the negatives. After processing, you'd need to cut the negatives, and put them into a clear file. Then, make a contact sheet which is basically an overview of the negatives. After that you would decide which negative you'd want to make a print with (5x7 or 8x10). Expose it for whatever looks the best on the test strip (not white or light, but just right where you can see everything). That was a bit of a struggle as a bit of images were white when developed but it wasnt a big deal, you could still see the image. Then I had made a test strip on the print to see how long I could expose it. Next, I made the full size print and expose it for 2 seconds, and I did that 6x. I had decided against using a filter, even though that would have made it look better, but I wanted the more grey scale image. For the final product, I think it turned out well. Again, I think a filter would have looked a lot better on the image. Some struggles I encountered was not making a test strip for the print the 1st time. So the second time, I made a test strip. Making a test strip had helped me so I could expose it for the correct amount of time. Overall, this assignment turned out well. I would just take the time to make a test strip and develop it for future/upcoming assignments.
