The subject of this image is Annie. The setting is in a hallway, with windows in the background. I decided to create this specific image because on this day, in particular, the hallway was flooded with the sun and it had great shadows for this project. I liked how the windows on the other side where incorporating a shadow that was grid-like and very interesting. I also liked how you could see her leap, in the light, and then she disappeared as the shadows went higher. I edited this image to be a selective color portrait. I have left everything but her pants, socks, and the middle windows with color. I wanted a pop of subtle color to distract from the rest of the plain setting. I do not use any compositions in this image. My project had evolved based on its creativity. I wanted to create a jungle-type scene, but I had quickly realized that it would take away from the shadows, so I decided to keep it simple. I also wanted to have a touch of green to compliment the green leaves of her leggings, but it had taken away from the picture if anything big was added. I would say there isn’t meaning behind this; I just liked how the shadows were and decided to use this image. This image can relate to my life by seeing talent, and how hard someone works for what they want; especially someone like a gymnast or dancer learning a new skill. I think that one thing that bothers me about this image is how plain the shadows are. I wished I had played around or tried a different source, other than the sun. Overall, though, I like how the shadows are natural, and they weren’t built off of something.
