Magnification & Reflection

Artist Statement

The subject of this image is a plant leaf. The setting of this image is a window, but it isn't very visable. This image was made by taking the it in front of a magifying glass. I, then, made this image black and white. I had added a lens flare into the white space to make it seem like the sun was coming into the magifying glass. I chose to make this image to capture Magnification. In this image, I used principles such as space to draw your eye straight to the center which puts the main focus onto the plant. Some compositional techniques in this image is framing, as the magifying glass is around the plant & subject. Sharp focus is also showcased because around the lens of the magifying glass, it is still visable. I didn't change or revise anything about this image. The meaning behind this image is that we should focus more about our surroundings, and the other life types around us. This project relates to my life because I tend to forget about my plants, and to water them, so I should certainly focus on my plants a little more.
