Reflections & Shadows

Artist Statement:

For this assignment, we had taken a walk around town and were looking for shadows and reflections. I had mainly been looking for images that were reflection (puddles, windows, mirrors, glass, etc.) and shadows (such as my print above.) I had taken 24 images on my 35mm film camera with the film provided by my teacher. After, I went on first to roll the film onto the coil in the changing bag. Then the next step was to process it. First, you had to get it checked by the teacher. If he approved it, you were good to move on. Then you'd have to follow the steps of processing. After processing, you'd need to cut the negatives, and put them into a clear file. Then, make a contact sheet which is basically an overview of the negatives. After that you would decide which negative you'd want to make a print with (5x7 or 8x10).After this assignment, I feel that this print was successful and I am happy with the way it had came out. The only thing I would to differently is be careful of the borders around the print. I had accidently moved the canvas, which is what holds the image (the print paper) when you expose it with the negative. You can tell in the print that the borders are a bit messed up.
