Abstract Shoe Drawing

This project was an extension of the modified contour drawing that we did of a shoe. For my project I used pencil, Sharpie, and water color to create an abstract drawing.

First, we had to use our shoe drawings and do a 'zoomed in' view of sections of them. We then chose from those drawing to draw onto a larger scale and turn into something else. For this, I followed after what I did for the Stool Empty Space drawing, and created a comic with it. This comic was done with watercolor and pen, and told the story of a writer. It was a glimpse into this characters life. I used a color scheme of reds and yellows to create a good balanced composition.

This project, while it looks good, features a darker theme where the writer is somewhat losing hope. I don't really like to draw/create sad things because they bum me out. However, the actual product met the standard and I worked hard to get there. My biggest struggle was figuring out what I wanted to do for the abstract element of the work. This ended in me on the living room floor with watercolors and an unfinished project the night before this was due.
