Word as a Graphic

This project was done to improve graphic design skills and to create a high contrast image. The class started by all of us writing down a noun and putting it in a bag. After that we pulled out a new word and created an image of it. I picked out the noun "old house" and was kind of disappointed at first, because I didn't have an idea. Eventually I used a thick black marker on white paper, and drew an old crumbling house in the shape of an "M" and made the other letters crumbling.

I used line and contrast to make this project really pop. The black against the white showed well, and there wasn't any background so there were no distractions from the words. My project ended up being dedicated to the presentation we saw of different business logos, where I turned it into the poster for a real estate agency.

If I did this project again I would give myself more time to do it, because I missed a day of school I was rushed to get it finished. Other than that I feel like I had a good project that met all of the criteria and used elements and principles of art very well.
