Emotion Design

This purpose of this piece was to become accustomed to using line and pattern to convey emotion. I used fine tipped pens in a blue shade on white paper to to this. I was inspired by art deco architecture styles, which incorporate a lot of repeating geometric shapes and patterns, as well as being very symmetrical. The intention was to convey an emotion, which I didn't focus on very much.

The main principles and elements I used were line and pattern. I used repeating lines of different colors to create value in different patterns. I ended up conveying a sort of godly or regal feeling, with light beam-esque things and pillars all cascading to the top of the paper. This wasn't originally my intention, but I like how it turned out. I made a couple of mistakes with smudging and fingerprints, which messes up the composition a little bit.

This project started off as just an interesting in experimenting with art deco, and ended up being a chance to practice using rulers and careful measurements along with creativity. It doesn't have much personal meaning to mme, other than the fact that I wanted to do it. The only thing I would do differently was to be careful about smudging. If I got to do a new one then I would want to do a black paper and metallic lines, and maybe add in a godly figure to better show the intention.
