Raw material Planning is based on the information from the Sales Forecast done for a particular period. The Sales Forecast would have reserved the relevant BoM's required to fulfill the orders To look at the Raw Materials required users go to the Inventory module and use the Replenishment View to look at what's In Stock ,what's been Reserved for both Raw Materials and the Finished Products.
Upon assessing the Raw Material Requirements users can now determine what need to be replenished/bought so they will then generate a Request for Purchase which is then sent to the Buying Dept who will be responsible for purchasing the required materials
1. Go to Reports > Inventory
2. Click Menu > Views - Replenishment. There after Click the View Button
3. The Inventory Replenishment View gives you list of all Products and Raw Materials that are flagged as Stock items in the system.This shows you what Qty stock which is available,Qty which is Reserved /Required and Available Qty which also works as Outstanding Qty which is how much is still required to be able to fulfill orders
4. For a better visual representation the View needs to be grouped by the Category and to also only View the Products, Raw materials and Packaging Materials categories. To do the grouping ,hover your mouse on the Category column and right click >Select Group by this field. The window View will change as per second image.You then have the option to expand/collapse each of the grouping
To filter by the specific categories which are Products, Raw Materials and Packaging Materials hover your mouse on the Category column and go to the small funnel icon. Check the required categories Products, Raw Materials, Packaging Materials.Final View will be as per 3rd Image
For the raw materials where there isn't enough Stock ,users can now create Request for Purchase which is sent to the Buyers to start the Material procurement process
After you have selected /highlghted the Items that you want to purchase/replenish fow the below steps
In the Inventory Replenishment View go to Actions > Click on Request for Purchase. A confirmation window will pop up..click Yes
The Request for Purchase is then created which user can then update the Quantities required .More detail on the Material Purchase Request process is detailed in the linked document below
