Brightspace allows each instructor to customize their profile and account settings. Your profile changes will be visible to the instructor and students. Your account settings are for your own user experience in Brightspace.
The Profile Menu displays by clicking on your name on the top right of the course page.
View as Student may be an option for some faculty. This allows you to view the course as a student would.
Select Change to view as a student.
You can also access notifications, account settings, and progress from the profile menu.
You can edit your user profile, including updating your profile picture, chosen name, email, city, and office hours.
On the Brightspace Home page, access your Personal menu by clicking on your name. From the drop-down menu, click on Profile.
From the Edit My User Profile screen, enter your personal information into the field(s) of your choice.
Note: All long text fields under Personal Info are limited to 4000 characters each.
Click Save and Close at the bottom of the page
Your profile picture is displayed in the Instructor Profile Widget and your Profile area. If you do not upload a profile picture, the navbar displays your initials in the user-profile badge. This displays in the Brightspace navbar and Activity Feed.
On the Brightspace Home page, access your Personal menu by clicking on your name. From the drop-down menu, click on Profile.
On the Edit My User Profile screen, click the Change Picture button.
In the pop-up window, click Upload.
Browse to and select your profile photo and then click the Open button.
Click the Add button on the pop-up window.
Click Save and Close at the bottom of the page.
Upload a photo of yourself that will be stored in your profile within Brightspace. This photo will be displayed for all of your classes. For example, your profile, discussion forums, grade book, etc. Uploading your photo is completely voluntary. Keep in mind that your photo could be copied and disseminated by others.
Faculty should strive to create a class environment that reflects mutual respect and the importance of learning. Faculty and IT Services are authorized to remove inappropriate photos.
Make the picture a head and shoulders shot.
Select a picture with a "clean" background, avoiding clutter or other individuals.
Make sure that you are dressed appropriately for a professional environment.
Avoid objects/clothing that references alcohol, drugs, or other symbols that could potentially reflect negatively on your character.
Keep the size of the image small (150 x 150 pixels is recommended). Uploading a differently sized image could result in loss of quality, stretching, or cropping.
The maximum file size allowed for profile pictures is 1 MB. If you attempt to upload a larger file size, it will fail to upload.
Accepted file formats for profile pictures are JPG, JPEG, or PNG.

Do post a professional-looking photo of yourself.
Do not include other individuals in your picture.
Do not post material that embarrasses, intimidates, threatens, harasses, or creates a hostile, offensive environment.
Do not copy and paste or distribute photos of anyone.
