There are two main options to provide feedback to students on their submitted work:
Annotation Tool in Brightspace
Track Changes / Comments in Word Documents
Please be sure to check with your department for specific grading and feedback requirements.
The Annotations Feedback Tool displays within the submissions preview window and provides options for adding highlights, comments, and text boxes. Printing, zooming, and download options are also available.
Please note the document preview in the grade book may not replicate the exact formatting of the student's submission. Please download a copy of the paper to verify specific document formatting, such as APA requirements.
Students will need to select "View Inline Feedback" from the Grades tool and assignment feedback page to see the feedback instructors have added via the Annotation tool.
The Annotation Tool is also great for commenting on PowerPoint presentation submissions. Kim Jurowski, Assistant Academic Department Chair, School of Social and Behavioral Sciences, demonstrates using the annotation tool on a presentation submission in the video to the right.
Track Changes: Provide any margin comments in the student’s project. Your department may also require that you include the grading rubric in your feedback. Save the draft with your comments on your hard drive.
