INTRODUCTION TO THE COMMUNITY/ORGANIZATION
MITSA Tutoring is a non-profit student-led organization founded in 2019 by Philippine Science High School - Main Campus students. It is composed of students from various high schools and universities who are passionate about STEM and sharing their knowledge to others. This organization is dedicated to developing pre-secondary students’ scientific skills and promoting STEM education through its online mentorship program, open-access modules and tutoring, and workshops, true to its motto: “For future scientists, by future scientists.”
The school started out around October 1999 when it broke out and became independent from the Commonwealth School — Main, which it was previously a part of. It was named Manuel Luis Quezon Elementary School (MLQES) as a tribute to the previous president Manuel L. Quezon since he is considered the father of Quezon City, the area where the school currently resides. Dr. Robert S. Macasieb served as the first school principal the same year it became independent. Currently, Dr. Natividad V. Nacino serves as the principal of the school. As of now, MLQES houses more than 7,000 students from Kindergarten to 6th Grade, including Special Education (SPED) and Alternative Learning System (ALS) students.
We dream of Filipinos who passionately love their country and whose values and competencies enable them to realize their full potential and contribute meaningfully to building the nation. As a learner-centered public institution, the Department of Education continuously improves itself to better serve its stakeholders.
To protect and promote the right of every Filipino to quality, equitable, culture-based, and complete basic education where:
Students learn in a child-friendly, gender-sensitive, safe, and motivating environment
Teachers facilitate learning and constantly nurture every learner
Administrators and staff, as stewards of the institution, ensure an enabling and supportive environment for effective learning to happen
Family, community, and other stakeholders are actively engaged and share responsibility for developing life-long learners
Maka-Diyos
