A Collaborative Project with HOUSE Foundation
to Support Out-of-school Youth
Our project aims to assist the HOUSE Foundation in promoting workplace health and safety during the Covid-19 pandemic through posters and infographics, as well as by presenting the importance of STEM fields including possible careers for the students to promote STEM education within their foundation.
The HOUSE Foundation is a non-profit organization based in Parañaque that aims to educate, empower, and employ at-risk youth to help them fully break away from poverty. They want to support young adults by hiring them as working students for businesses and providing them the right environment to grow.
Their breakthrough program, Helping Ourselves Program (HOP), aids the formerly abused, trafficked, incarcerated, and impoverished young adults by providing them an opportunity to obtain the necessary skills for employment and a stable career. This program seeks the holistic development of their learners so their approach focuses on 4 main aspects: academic education, psychological intervention, values education, and work ethics training.
The foundation was established by Kristine Reyes-Lopez (Krie) because of a visit to the Delancey Street Foundation in San Francisco, a foundation that is focused on assisting ex-convicts to reintegrate back into society through rehabilitation and employment.

This inspired Krie to establish Messy Bessy Cleaners, Inc. here in the Philippines in 2007 which was focused on poverty alleviation for disadvantaged youth. In 2016, the Helping Ourselves Through Sustainable Enterprises (HOUSE) Foundation was started to extend the reach and assistance of Messy Bessy Cleaners, Inc. to more youth.
HOUSE Foundation, along with its partner, Messy Bessy, has helped more than 400 at-risk young individuals. Many of those have also graduated with a college degree from different institutions. Their goal moving forward is to have their program reach 100 business partners and help 10,000 at-risk individuals in the next 10 years.
