North Fairview Elementary School (NFES)
Vision
North Fairview Elementary School will help transform every child for a better individual having a common aspiration for richer and fuller life and to serve God and country.
.
Mission
North Fairview elementary School is committed to provide each child access to basic quality education, develops the four dimensions in life, God-fearing attitude and loyalty to his country.
In 1988, NFES was actually called Fairview Elementary School Annex and it was only composed of 3 rooms at that time.
It was officially used in 1989 under the supervision of Mrs. Dolores Leonor due to the sudden increase of enrollment at that time.
On February 5, 1994, it started to become an independent school and its name was changed to North Fairview Elementary School (NFES).
Currently, NFES is still standing strong with some ongoing renovations to further improve that quality of life for the students.
It is located at 27 Avon, Novaliches, Quezon City, Metro Manila. The community is accessible through online means like Facebook, Messenger, Email and they even have an official website, though the website is not yet fully finished but most of the things we need to know are available.
.
Objectives
This project aims:
to provide additional education to the students of North Fairview Elementary School through tutorials and review sessions
to create easy-to-understand learning guides for grade 6 students
Needs Analysis
According to the interview conducted with Mrs. Felipa Basig, a teacher from NFES, currently, Grade 6 students are having a hard time in solving using the 4 fundamentals of mathematics, fractions and word problems.
Community Concerns
Current Grade 6 students are having a very hard time learning Mathematics, Science, and English since the start of the pandemic.
According to Ma’am Basig, currently Grade 6 students are having a hard time in solving using the 4 fundamentals of mathematics, fractions and word problems. Due to these she also asked if it is possible for us to teach the students in a way where they can easily grasp the concepts and she also said that if possible we teach the Grade 6 students to be taught a bit of advanced mathematics like the introduction to algebra so that they will be ready when they enter high school.
National Relevance
The project aims to promote Mathematics through online tutorials and learning activities. As stated earlier, teaching students the basics of mathematics and the introduction to high school mathematics can lead to the students becoming interested in STEM-related topics and strand. Alongside learning STEM topics, they might also want to take STEM-related courses which in turn can increase the number of Filipino STEM professionals and even help with the currently stagnant research and development of our country.
