CIVIC ENGAGEMENT & LEADERSHIP
(SOCIAL SCIENCE 6)
This course uses, builds up, and capitalizes on the historical, political, and economic learning from the previous Social Science subjects. It focuses on the practical application and integration of Social Science and STEM disciplines to promote active citizenship, advocacy, and community involvement.
This course will develop an understanding of the different social issues using a systems perspective contextualized in the Philippine setting/local community with the goal of enhancing the student's problem solving, critical thinking, social-emotional learning, and preparing them for appropriate community involvement and participation.
As a result of their activities in Grade 12, students will be able to:
Demonstrate heightened awareness of the different social issues in the context of the Philippine setting;
Apply problem-solving and critical thinking skills to analyze Social Science concepts and pressing social concerns;
Create symbolic representations to express ideas, opinions, and perspectives about pressing socio-economic issues;
Engage in activities that promote nation-building.
