PHIVOLCS PARTNERSHIP
PHIVOLCS PARTNERSHIP
To hold the seminar, Project Canary established a partnership with the GDAPD of PHIVOLCS. For the duration of the project's implementation, it was observed that the GDAPD was highly cooperative and responsive. Furthermore, its members expressed a willingness to work with the project again in the future.
Now, due to the pilot seminar's completion and success, the project has reached out to PHIVOLCS to extend the partnership and continue collaboration. This would take the form of future interactive seminars built upon the framework of the initial one, to be held for different schools or age ranges.
However, as all current members of Project Canary are set to graduate within the year, such seminars would have to be hosted by other individuals. Following this, plans have been made to turn control and responsibility of the Project over to members of Batch 2024 and 2025, who can adopt it as a SCALE activity or SS6 project.
PROJECT TURNOVER
As established above, the project will be passed down to members of Batch 2024 and 2025. To encourage participation and to enable the recruitment of multiple members, Project Canary will be turned into a student organization functioning as a SCALE activity. This would serve as the primary means to ensure project sustainability; future PSHS-MC students continuing the partnership with PHIVOLCS to host seminars across Metro Manila.
The turnover process for the project has already begun. After sending out an interest check and subsequent sign-up form, six students from Batch 2024 and 2025 have joined Project Canary, and are currently being primed on how to carry out the project's objectives and responsibilities.
Following this, the preparation of all necessary paperwork to the SCALE coordinators and school administration is underway.
SCALE SPECIFICS
As a SCALE activity, future members of Project Canary would follow in our footsteps, upholding the partnership with PHIVOLCS and hosting interactive seminars for communities of their choosing. Doing so would cover three out of four Strands: Service, Creativity, and Leadership. The project would also fulfill all eight Learning Objectives.
For no monetary gain, the students would be helping a government body by contributing to their mission of spreading vital information on earthquake preparedness to the youth. As the primary benificiaries of doing so, their countrymen would also benefit form this.
The students would make various slides, prizes, scripts, and other creatives for the seminar, in order to better capture the attention of their audiences. Furthermore, they would have to create post-lecture activities in the form of games to help synthesize relevant lessons.
The students would be largely independent in leading themselves while communicating with PHIVOLCS and the community. More notably, they would also be leading the group discussions of their students; each project member would handle and direct a class.
