The project can be split into three essential parts.
(1) Getting permission to actually conduct the project from the necessary authorities such as the Schools Division Office of Marikina.
(2) Creating the various materials to be used during the tutoring sessions including the modules that will be distributed after the tutoring.
(3) The actual tutoring sessions that are conducted on the four Saturdays of March 2023.
The approvals of two main parties are necessary. One is the approval of the school itself, Sto. Nino Elementary School and the other is the approval of Marikina's Schools DIvision Office.
The group first asked for permission from the school, and the school principal accepted the idea of the tutoring sessions with open arms, however, there was one condition that had to be fulfilled before we were allowed to proceed. This condition was simply to go through the formalities and paper work of having the project officially approved by the Marikina's SDO, and so, the group wrote letters of request and after a long back and forth, the group received a letter of indorsement from the SDO.
While this part of the community project was supposed to be done first, many internal and external difficulties caused a shift in plans. A general lesson plan for all the sessions was first made alongside the tentative schedule of each day. The modules which were supposed to supplement the sessions were instead transformed into self-sufficient modules that will be distributed after the sessions are completed.
The tutoring sessions were conducted on the four Saturdays of March 2023. Each of these days had specific agendas for them as seen in the previous schedules. The students were taught with a "actions teach better than words" mindset, and as such, they were always working with us as we discussed each specific topic whether it was about power points or Python. With regards to the topics, general office knowledge and coding were chosen as they both actively promote computer literacy.
