Contribute to establishing Solace as a more well-known organization in the PSHS-MC community
After successfully helping Solace host an event (the Women's Month Exhibit), we believe our group has contributed to establishing Solace as an organization in PSHS-MC.
The primary problem of the Solace was a lack of manpower. We were able to alleviate these problems by volunteering for the creatives committee and creating publication mats, infographics, designs, and materials.
Create publication materials raising awareness about four outstanding women each in the fields of STEM, politics, and sports
The group successfully completed three posters about women's achievements in STEM, sports, and politics, and had them posted in the women's month exhibit for the PSHS-MC community to see.
Provide supplementary labor for other aspects of the women’s month exhibit (including setup and assistance in other featured posters)
Members of the group were able to assist in other posters featured in the exhibit, as well as assist physically in setting up the exhibit at the ASTB Hall.
Spread awareness to the Pisay community about gender-related issues which don’t often get highlighted
While explicit sexism is not a severe problem in the PSHS community, especially not among its students, there are still women and gender-related issues which many may not be aware of.
Such issues were addressed in the Women’s Month Exhibit such as one's legal rights, support organizations, and bystander intervention. Through the feedback form, we found that the majority of respondents found the content insightful, which likely means that they were able to learn something new about the topics covered in the exhibit.
Throughout the project, we learned that although we alleviated the problem somewhat, Solace may still lack manpower in the future. A possible solution to this could be a recruitment campaign. It could also be helpful for Solace to implement more interactive activities (such as but not limited to seminars like the one they held earlier in the school year) which may be able to catch the attention of the Pisay community more than exhibits. Solace has already expressed interest in using different media (audio-visual media, paintings, social media posts, etc.) for the same purpose in the next women’s month, so hopefully it will reach more people.
While conducting the project, we exercised and improved on our ability to manage time, research information, and create works that are pleasing to look at. It was particularly challenging to learn how to collaborate with an organization, especially one consisting of students who are just as busy as we are.
The project was able to exemplify the school’s core values of Integrity, Excellence, and Service. Integrity was displayed through the content of the publication materials which were thoroughly researched to verify its truthfulness. The group strived for excellence through the execution of the project, particularly in the quality of the creative outputs and in dealing with logistics and communication with Solace. Service was achieved as the project was purely volunteer work with no kind of compensation from Solace or the Pisay community.
