"School's out for summer!"
~ Alice Cooper
We have reached the end of another academic year, and what a journey it has been! I don't know about you, but I am looking forward to the (somewhat) slower pace of summer, taking time to reflect, taking in some sun, cooking out, and of course the glorious Friday's off! We forget sometime how much of a gift that is! I did not have this at my last institution, and when I told them it was more common in Illinois they laughed at me pretty hard. Well who's laughing now losers!? :) Seriously, lets all be thankful for this amazing benefit of working at PSC. Not all colleges, even in Illinois, are afforded this and it is pretty cool.
I am also thankful that we are moving steadily towards our new normal. We still don't know what will come of the pandemic, but I am more confident than ever that whatever happens, we have and will get through it. I want you to be excited about the fall, and think about ways we can make the return one for the ages! As you take time over the summer, think about how we can come back with renewed faith in each other, renewed joy in our purpose, and a renewed shared belief that this will be the best year yet for us. Our attitudes going into the fall are as important as any program, strategy, and intervention we create.
I am so honored to be your President. Not a day goes by where I don't feel the weight of this responsibility, and the weight of your hopes, fears, and dreams for our college and community. I promise to work hard over the summer and beyond to try to meet your expectations, dream big for our institution, and help our students experience success as they have never experienced before. Take care of yourself and each other as we enter the summer.
I hope to see you all at Commencement and/or other end of year celebrations in the coming days/weeks. Stay safe, and job well done Pioneers!
