Charge
The College Council (“the Council”) provides each college constituency group the opportunity to actively participate in the shared governance process of the institution. The group provides advice and counsel to the President on college-wide issues. Ad-hoc committees of the Council may be formed at the recommendation and approval of the President when needed to study or review specific issues or topics.
Responsibilities
● Participate in the planning, review, and monitoring of the Prairie State College Strategic Plan;
● Provide input and advice on matters for which the President brings to the Council;
● Serve as a venue to provide input to the President and President’s Cabinet;
● Review instructional, administrative, student and other issues or concerns that the Council considers important to Prairie State College operations* and make recommendations to the President accordingly.
*The Council shall have no jurisdiction over the matters or issues specified in employee collective bargaining agreements or outlined in college policies.
The President will seek recommendations of employees from each union group, the Student Government Association, and the President’s Leadership Team to serve on the Council. Membership includes two (2) representatives from the adjunct faculty, full-time faculty, support staff, administration, managers/professionals, and student government, and one (1) representative from the campus police union. An alternate representative can be sent in the event a regular member of the Council is unable to attend. The President or her/his designee shall serve as the convener of the Council.
