Colleagues:
October 31 marks my final day as interim president of Prairie State College. It is a privilege and a joy to serve in this capacity. I deeply appreciate everyone who has contributed to PSC’s success during my incumbency. Your commitment to the success of PSC is evident as we continue to navigate through this pandemic.
Prairie State College is an outstanding institution composed of individuals who care deeply about our students and our community. I am encouraged each day that I am associated with you. We all have contributed and made improvements. This speaks volumes about who we are as an organization that people can rely upon to provide quality higher education as well as serve our community.
Because of our shared values, goals, and aspirations, Prairie State College has made strides over the last year and nearly seven months, despite the odds stacked against us. We showed remarkable resilience by prioritizing our students and pivoting to online classes and services with limited resources and time. We have invested in our faculty and staff by providing the resources required to design and implement alternative teaching methodologies and communication platforms. We have strengthened our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through action.
To my senior leadership team and cabinet -- thank you for your commitment to the college and community. You are my trusted colleagues and I appreciate every one of you.
To our outstanding faculty -- Thank you for your devotion to our students. You teach, mentor and share in so many ways. You are the heart of Prairie State College.
To the PSC staff — you are the reason the college runs smoothly and efficiently. No matter what your job — whether it is working with students, faculty, or visitors, keeping the technology up and running, or maintaining our campus — you play a vital role in our success.
The PSC Board of Trustees has also played a tremendous role in advancing this institution. I am grateful to the trustees for their steady leadership, counsel, stewardship, for the opportunity to serve as interim president, and for trusting in me to lead the college.
It is time now to turn the reins over to Dr. Michael Anthony, who will begin his appointment as Prairie State College’s 16th president tomorrow, October 15. Dr. Anthony prevailed in a competitive search process. I am confident he will make an excellent president. I will be encouraging and supporting President Anthony.
I look forward to continuing in my role as Vice President of Finance and Administration and cabinet member. I have been truly fortunate to be a part of this beautiful community of intelligent, talented, and innovative individuals, and I am so thankful for the experiences we share. The work we have done together has established a strong foundation that we continue to build and improve upon. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart.
Sincerely,
Dr. Thomas Saban
