LaTanya Taylor chose PSC because she wanted to help her community.
“I am invested in the future of our children and community. I see a need for educational development and I want to be a part of it," Taylor said. "I don’t want to see any of our children left behind.”
Another reason she selected PSC was its convenience and various class options.
“After work, I am able to log in, view my assignments as well as videos that the professor has shared and complete my assignments and quizzes at my own pace,” Taylor said.
After graduation, Taylor will head to Governors State University to complete her bachelor’s degree and she one day hopes to be a school counselor.
April is #CCMonth and we have been sharing highlights of faculty, staff, and students as they talk about their experience at PSC.
Melissa Hebert-Johnson, Dean of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences, is relatively new to the College having worked here for three months but it has made an impact on her.
“My favorite part about working at Prairie State College is seeing the relationships our staff and faculty build with students in order to help them meet their education and career goals,” Hebert-Johnson said.
Hebert-Johnson attended community college herself and knows what it can mean for individuals.
“Community College Matters because we need affordable, practical, and reliable options for education, advancement, and community fellowship.”

The Board of Trustees approved iFactory as the firm that will lead the college through it's website redesign. The timeline has changed for this project from July 1 to early fall. The current website has over 2000 pages. We agreed as we would rather have a quality product launched after the deadline than one that meets the deadline but does not measure up to our expectations. Updates coming.
Communications and Marketing recently signed a contract for a Southlake Mall ad panel. PSC and the Lake County, IN tuition discount will be showcased on 8ft tall backlit ad displays in Southlake Mall in Merrillville, Indiana. The ad features a QR code linking to prairiestate.edu/lakecounty.
Four kiosk displays also were placed in two Jewel stores and two CVS stores. These ads will showcase registration information.
The kiosk dispenses hand sanitizer and cart wipes, so shoppers interact with them as they go in and out of the store.

Jewel: 17705 S Halsted St., Homewood and 3220 Chicago Road, South Chicago Heights
CVS: 3400 Lincoln Hwy., Olympia Fields and 1 Main Street, Park Forest

I should be the one to thank you for everything you are doing for us, and I am so grateful for that.
It was more than a pleasure to be one of the volunteers. Thank you again!
