The Workspace is the entire area of Premiere. It is broken into different panels which all serve a different purpose for creating a video.
When starting Premiere, all the panels will be blank until you bring video and audio files into the program.
If this is your first time using Premiere, a learn tab will be open, close that down by right-clicking the word learn and selecting close panel.
Project Panel/Media Browser – Where you store all the elements needed to create your finished video. It can contain individual video clips, audio clips, titles, photos, and graphical images.
Source Monitor – This allows you to preview clips and make adjustments before adding them to the timeline.
Program Monitor – Shows you the active timeline, and what the edited video will look like.
Timeline or Sequence – The area where your video takes shape. By dragging items from the project panel or source monitor and placing them in the desired order, you create a sequence of clips and events that play in the timeline from left to right
Tool Panel – contains common tools used for editing clips in the timeline
Audio Meters – Where you can look at volume levels.
Premiere Pro includes several predefined workspaces that optimize the layout of panels for specific tasks.
When you choose one of these Workspaces, the current Workspace is rearranged accordingly.
