INSPECT computer hardware before each use.
REPORT any hardware problems/damage immediately to the teacher.
Do not attempt to fix hardware/cabling/peripherals yourself.
Handle computers and equipment with care (cameras, tripods, etc.)
RETURN EQUIPMENT - Return equipment to its rightful place.
Installation of any programs on any computer in this lab is prohibited. Please see Mr. Myers if you need something installed.
NO FOOD - Drinks are allowed but you must be careful.
NO CELLPHONES - You'll be asked once to put it away then sent to the office. (Government-mandated)
NO GAMES - If you are finished your work, use that time to review and augment your projects, practice your skills, or work on another course.
SHOW RESPECT - To your teacher, to each other, and to the equipment.
PASSWORDS - Log in with your own unique username and password. You may not use someone else's login and password to access school computer systems. You may not allow anyone to use your login and password. Violation of these rules can result in serious disciplinary action.
You must log out or lock your system when you leave the computer lab -- even if only for a short time. Failure to do so may result in someone else accessing your account without your knowledge. You are responsible for any violation of school policies that occur with your account, even when you did not perform the action. DO NOT GIVE OUT YOUR PASSWORD!!
BE RESPECTFUL - Please leave saved computer files that are not yours alone.
Save your work IN A LOGICAL PLACE. Use folders to organize your files and projects.
Make backups of your files (Google Drive or USB)
SAVE ALWAYS and OFTEN.
Treat the computers with respect, you will need to use them all semester.
Any destruction or tampering with the computers or equipment will result in the possible permanent loss of privileges.
If you are away it is YOUR responsibility to get caught up and hand in any missing work.
ACCEPTABLE WORK - Any work promoting drugs, violence, or alcohol-related subjects (unless approved beforehand) will not be accepted or graded. Any subjects of obscene or offensive nature will also not be accepted and will result in communication with the administration.
STUDIO TIME/FILMING OUTSIDE OF THE CLASSROOM - You are given studio/filming time in class to work on your assignments. Students who waste time will not succeed.
ALWAYS UPLOAD THE SAME DAY - This will help prevent your photos/videos footage from accidentally getting lost or deleted.
CLEAN UP - Clear off desk/computer station, throw out garbage, and put back chairs.
LOG OFF computers at the end of Periods 1, 2, or 3.
SHUT DOWN computers and turn off monitors at the end of period 4.
Students will be permitted to make use of the common areas inside the school and the outdoor areas on-campus for picture or video making.
At these times, students agree to:
Abide by the St. Paul Student Code of Behaviour
Do not disturb other classes
Behave respectfully toward others
Do not photograph/videotape individuals who do not wish to be photographed
Remain on-task
No vaping
Wear appropriate footwear and clothing.
Remain on school property at all times.
Stay away from the 7-8 wing, gym area, basement, and all classrooms in session.
Complete all required tasks in a timely and efficient manner.
Refrain from horseplay and dangerous behaviour.
Be respectful of environments and properties: leave no litter, do not trespass, do not approach any wild animals.
Return to class at the agreed-upon time or when you have finished filming.
Failure to abide by these rules could result in a failure of the assignment, potential loss of privileges, and depending on the infraction, a possible suspension.
