Use Photoshop to create a monster movie poster in the vein of the 1950s illustrated / painted posters, incorporating various techniques learned throughout the semester.
Your Poster must be 1200 pixels wide by 1700 pixels in height.
Follow the steps below to give your poster that old hand-illustrated look (do the steps before you add your titles and credits)
Use your imagination, no idea is too crazy.
Adding detailed touches such as credits, a border, and a catchy tagline helps create that poster look and feel.
Level 4 work is achieved by making the poster look as authentic as possible.
Take your time and pay attention to the details.
(do these steps before you add your titles and credits)
Step 1: Flatten your poster onto 1 layer. Layer > Flatten Image.
Step 2: Duplicate your Image two times (CTRL + J)
Step 3: Create a Curves Adjustment Layer above all your layers and adjust it so that you have a bit of an S-Curve. (click on the line to add the little handles)
Step 4: Highlight the Top Photo Layer and go Filter > Other > High Pass and input a low radius between 1-3 px.
Step 5: Change the blending mode of this High Pass layer to Linear Light to Sharpen the Photo.
Step 6: Go Layer > Merge Down to merge the High Pass Layer onto our Background Copy.
Step 7: On this Merged Layer go Filter > Stylize > Diffuse. Change the Diffuse to Anisotropic and click OK. This is what gives the image a brushed appearance.
Step 8: Go Image > Image Rotation > 90° Clockwise and repeat the Filter > Stylize Diffuse. Do this 2 more times and rotate until your picture is right side up.
Step 9: Go Filter > Sharpen > Smart Sharpen and put in an Amount of 100° and a Radius between 2-3 and click OK.
Step 10: Go Filter > Blur > Surface Blur and adjust the Radius to around 50px and the Threshold to 15 levels.
