Use the Shape tool to draw simple geometric shapes which include the Rectangle, Ellipse, Triangle, Polygon, and Line Tools.
The shape tools in Photoshop are all found in the toolbar, nested together in the same spot.
By default, the Rectangle Tool is the tool that's visible.
In most cases, you'll want to draw vector shapes, so the mode needs to be set to Shape
Use the Pen tool to create unique shapes.
Start by selecting the Pen tool and make sure you change the Path option to Shape. This will automatically create shapes based on your pen selections.
A straight line is made by clicking two anchor points.
By continuing to click, you create a path made of straight line segments connected by anchor points.
Complete the path by finishing where you began.
Position the Pen tool where you want the curve to begin, and hold down the mouse button and drag. Handles will appear to adjust the slope of the curve. (can all be adjusted after the fact)
If you don't want your next point to be curved, hold down ALT and click on the last anchor point before you draw a new one.
Use the direct selection tool to move and adjust your anchor points and curve handles.
