THE GOAL - A safe environment where all participants can grow and achieve their potential.
RESPONSIBILITY - Safety is everyone’s responsibility.
Includes both physical and emotional safety.
Everyone has the right to a safe work and learning environment.
Be part of the solution, not the problem.
Your online safety is crucial!
Don’t share your passwords with anyone.
Don’t upload anything you wouldn’t want the whole world to see. There is no such thing as “private”.
Don’t respond to anyone you don’t know.
Never give your full name, address, SIN, or other information to anyone online.
Bullying on the internet is the same as in person.
Bullying is bullying. It still hurts real people.
You are responsible for your comments and posts.
Be the change, don’t participate in bullying.
Notify an adult if you witness it occurring.
Your school code of conduct applies to your online communication as well as your physical behaviour.
Bullying of any form will not be tolerated.
Fairness is not sameness. Everyone learns differently, be respectful of the differences between each of you.
Be CONSTRUCTIVE in your criticism. This is how we learn best. Negative behaviour will not be tolerated.
If you feel you need assistance to help you be successful, please ask. You are entitled to your education.
Respect for each person’s beliefs, interests and cultures is paramount in building our classroom community.
Discrimination will not be tolerated.
Check your email as much as possible and respond quickly to messages you receive; your input may be critical to someone else.
Never send anything that you wouldn’t want someone other than the recipient to read.
Don’t open an attachment in an email if:
You don’t know the sender,
The subject line doesn’t make sense or is suspicious in any way,
The attachment name is suspicious, or
The attachment or message text doesn’t make sense or you aren’t expecting them.
Don’t type in all capital letters; it looks like you are screaming.
Try not to use sarcasm or humor, it doesn’t always come across well.
Make sure you reply to one person and not the whole list, unless you want the whole list to read what you have to say.
