There are many different types of movies, and each one is made differently. However, they all go through the same basic process.
Working on films at school require a great deal of planning. Here are the steps to production I expect you to follow in class.
Like a real movie production, the actual filming of the film is usually shorter than the development/pre-production part.
Take time to develop and organize your projects to insure the best product possible.
Pre-production is the planning phase of the project.
These steps happen before you even get the camera and should be followed in order.
Equipment Needs - Determine what equipment you'll need and have access to.
Brainstorm - Choose the best subject, and begin planning.
Gather Information h - Research your topic. Find supporting photos, music, and illustration. Prearrange interviews if necessary.
Organize - Create an outline or write a Treatment Script - outline the main points and flow
Write the Script - Include actors' or narrators' lines and descriptions of images you will use if necessary.
Draw a Storyboard - Include a drawing and a caption for each shot in your video.
Create a Prop List - a list of items and who is responsible for bringing them in.
Scout the Locations(s) - Think about where you will set up your camera and what lighting and sound problems you may face.
Create a Shot List
Choose Jobs - Divide jobs among members of your group.
Production is the process of creating all pieces of the final video.
Rehearse - have actors practice their lines or review their interview questions before shooting begins.
Check Lighting and Sound - Reduce or remove shadows, glare, or noises.
Produce Video Footage
Video Clarity - Shots are focused, movements are smooth
Video Framing - Good composition, follow your storyboards
Sound & Lighting - Be aware of appropriate lighting and sound (reduce or remove shadows, glare, or noises.)
Continuity - Make sure your character and scenes are consistent
Create Graphics such as images, photos, or slides.
Record voice-overs if required
In post-production, the final video comes together
Organize your Footage - Gather the clips you want to use. (separate the bad ones but keep them just in case)
Edit video clips and footage and place the clips in order
Add Audio Tracks to the video (Music and Sound FX)
Insert Transitions, Titles and End Credits to the final video
Export the video so others can view it
