You can apply different blending modes to a layer.
Blending modes affect how the color pixels on one layer blend with pixels on the layers underneath.
Find and open up a texture you want to use.
This texture is a little boring so we'll add a cool lighting effect to it.
If your layer is locked in the bottom right, click on the little lock icon to unlock it.
Let's add a Gradient Overlay Layer Style to our texture.
Double-click to the right of the layer's name to bring up the Layer Style Panel.
Select Gradient Overlay and change the settings to:
Press Reset to Default
Blend Mode: Multiply
Opacity: 90%
Click on the Gradient Box and Under Basic select the White to Black gradient and click OK.
Style: Radial
Adjust the Angle to 48
And adjust the Scale to your liking
Open up an image and place it above your texture layer.
Double click to the right of the layer's name to bring up the Layer Style Panel.
Here we will change the Blending Mode but ALSO adjust some settings
In the Blending Options Section, change the Blend Mode to OVERLAY or HARD LIGHT (You can try any of the ones in this section for different results).
Press and hold the ALT key and click on each of the Underlying Layer slide knobs (shadows and highlights) to split them as you drag towards the center it allows the texture below to peek through.
Where you position the sliders depends on how much of the effect you want.
Add text in the same way using Blending Modes and the Underlying Layer Slide Knobs.
