In context to Urban cities of India, the consumption of plastic bags especially in the vegetable market is rising. This happens because of less awareness and more easy availability of bags at cheaper price. On the other hand there is no proper channel for regulation of plastic manufacturing and usag. also there is no proper law implementation on the consumption of plastic bag which forces people to refuse the use of plastic bags. Yet India recycle 60% of its plastic waste but the remaining 40% creates major problems which is mainly plastic bags. Because it is difficult to recycle of plastic bags which then creates landfill, sewage choking and health Issues to the human health and animals.
Plastic consumption in the country is likely to reach 200 lakh tonnes by 2020 on the back of growing use of different forms of the commodity. In 2013, the consumption of plastic in India was 120 lakh tonnes, which is expected to reach 200 lakh tonnes by 2020. The consumption of plastic in different forms is increasing by an average of 10 per cent every year.
