Dear Families,
In the final week of term, we learnt about different life cycles and what happens to nature in Spring. We learnt about the Christian celebration of Easter and ways people celebrate. We made Easter cards for our friends and families, decorated eggs and special Easter hats. We al As a treat for filling our token jar, we finished the week with an Easter party and made rice krispie cakes- yum! We completed an Easter egg hunt, played party games and had some treats. We are so proud of the progress the children have made this term. Thanks for all your support. We hope you have a lovely and relaxing Easter break. Thank you for all your hard work this term Reception, you have been brilliant!
Best wishes from the Reception Team
Click on the picture below to listen to the story with your child, then ask them the suggested questions.
How many Easter eggs where there?
We have learnt the words below this week. Can you ask your child the suggested questions to encourage them to use the words in a sentence?
What nature do you see in your local area?
What type of trees do you see in your school?
What do plants need to grow?
This week, we have been recapping all we have learnt this term including:
- counting recognising and writing numbers to 20
- halving and sharing into equal groups
- recognising odds and evens
- one more and one less
- comparing amounts
Practise the sounds we have learnt this week with your child by clicking on the pictures below. The more opportunities they have to see, hear and say the sounds, the more likely they are to stick. The videos will teach you too! Then practise learning to blend with Fred talk.
Try out one or both of these activities with your child this weekend. Please send us any photos you take or bring your child's learning into school - we'd love to see them!
Practise orally counting forwards and backwards from 0 - 100.
Challenge: Can you notice the pattern of the numbers?
Keep a diary of what you get up to over the Easter holidays. Draw a picture and write one sentence for what you did each day to share with the class!
Please make sure you wait with your child in the line in the mornings until the teacher/an adult comes out to support. Just to be extra safe!
Please make sure you read with your child regularly over the holidays! Encourage any free writing too! Can they write any words/sentences using their sound mats? Can they recognise any sounds/words around the environment?
Thank you so much to all parents and carers who attended Parents Evening, it was lovely to see you and chat about your child's progress. If you have not had a meeting yet, please discuss with Ms Dickinson to arrange a time after Easter.
