Week ending Friday 20th October 2023

Dear Families,

Wow. What a super first half term the children have had! This week, we have completed our learning about colours and Art techniques. We have enjoyed practising still Art drawing, making Kandinsky collages and chalk drawing concentric circles! The children have enjoyed exploring their new role play areas. We have a post office, super market and toy shop in Reception! The children enjoyed a whole class movie with popcorn and a dance party for their end of term treat. We managed to fill all our token jars! In maths, we have been consolidating our numbers within 6 and combining two groups together.  On Thursday we had a special Road Safety Workshop! We learnt how to walk to and from school and how to cross the road safely. We know to STOP. LOOK. LISTEN. THINK before we cross! We practised crossing the road beautifully!

We are so proud of the children's reading progress this half term- thank you so much for your support at home. As we are off school for a week, we encourage as much practice with their sounds and writing. We have sent some home learning for your child to complete but please do continue reading stories with your child, recognising sounds and any name writing!

We have a Reception RWI and Early Reading  Parent workshop on Thursday 2nd November at 9am. Please do come along!

Thank you for your continuous support and engagement.

Wishing you all a lovely half term - we can't wait to see you again on Monday 30th October.

Best wishes from the Reception Team!

Our Phonics Learning this week

Practise the sounds we have learnt this week with your child by clicking on the pictures below. The more opportunities they have to see, hear and say the sounds, the more likely they are to stick. The videos will teach you too!
