Dear Families,
The first week of our new topic of the Spring. We investigated the weather and conducted our own weather report. We also made weather dials and wind streamers! In Maths, we have been exploring sharing and halving. We practised finding half of a number by sharing into 2 groups. We learnt that only even numbers can be halved! Please remember to return book bags with both books into school every Monday so they can be checked or changed. We will be sending our sound of the day practice home too. If the books are not returned, we will not be able to swap them or hand anymore out. Please ensure your child is practising their reading with you everyday!
We had a super fun Friday celebrating Red Nose Day. The children looked fantastic in their pyjamas!
Have a lovely weekend.
Best wishes,
The Reception Team
Thank you to the parents who attended our Food & Fine Motor Workshop. Please see the information below if you missed it!
Click on the picture below to listen to the story with your child, then ask them the suggested questions.
"What is the weather like in Spring?"
Can you sing along to our song of the week?
We have learnt the words below this week. Can you ask your child the suggested questions to encourage them to use the words in a sentence?
This week, we have been learning how to find half. You have to share the amount into 2 equal groups. You must share 1 at a time to make sure the amount is the same and fair. "One for me, one for my partner..." We can only share even numbers!
"Half of 6 is 3."
Can you share odd numbers? Why not?
"Half of 4 is 2"
Practise the sounds we have learnt this week with your child by clicking on the pictures below. The more opportunities they have to see, hear and say the sounds, the more likely they are to stick. The videos will teach you too! Then practise learning to blend with Fred talk.
Try out one or both of these activities with your child this weekend. Please send us any photos you take or bring your child's learning into school - we'd love to see them!
Snacks in School
A polite reminder that children are not to have snacks brought into school. Children have access to fruit, vegetables and milk throughout the morning and afternoon. Thank you!
Finsbury Park- Nature Hunt Trip
We will be visiting Finsbury Park to conduct a Spring Nature Hunt on the last week of term. We will be sending the trip letters home next week and are looking for parent volunteers!
