Week ending: Friday 9th February 2024
Dear Families,
We have had a fantastic half term! We loved reading "Clean Up" where we learned about Jamaica and water pollution. The children have recently enjoyed exploring Houses and Homes where we learned about homes from the past and compared them to the present! We really enjoyed visiting the Museum Of Home trip. Thank you to all our parent volunteers for your support. Look out for more trips next half term! In maths, we have been exploring odd and even numbers. Next half term we will begin to learn about teen numbers. We are incredibly proud of the children's reading and writing progress so far! Please continue to read as much with your child as possible! A reminder that school is closed next week for half term and we will open again on Tuesday 20th February due to a INSET day.
Wishing you a lovely half term break!
Best wishes,
The Reception Team

Our Song/Rhyme this week
Polly Put The Kettle On
Can you sing along to our song of the week?
Our Words this week
We have learnt the words below this week. Can you ask your child the suggested questions to encourage them to use the words in a sentence?
Our Maths Learning this week
This week we have been exploring odd and even numbers. We learnt that an even number has equal groups of two (partners). We know that a number is odd if it can't be shared equally. We used the numicon to identify odd and even numbers! We recognised the pattern of odd and even numbers.
Our Phonics Learning this week
Practise the sounds we have learnt this week with your child by clicking on the pictures below. The more opportunities they have to see, hear and say the sounds, the more likely they are to stick. The videos will teach you too! Then practise learning to blend with Fred talk.

For our next topic, we will be exploring the country Africa and we will be reading "The Water Princess". Can you find out any facts about Africa over half term? What animals live there? What is the climate like? What are some different places?
Half Term Writing
Can you write about what you did over half term? Can you draw any pictures and label them ready to share with the class?
