Week ending Friday 10th November, 2023

Dear Families,

This week we have introduced our new learning theme, Everywhere Bear- Our Local Community where we talked about our local area. The children have created maps of their route to school and created their own local road signs. The children have also enjoyed making playdough Everywhere Bears and drawing bears. It was really lovely to start our own Everywhere Bear project and we can't wait to see the photos of the bear with your child at home. Every Friday we will select 1 child to take Everywhere bear home for the weekend. What will the bear eat? Where will he sleep? What does your child do to relax and have fun with the bear? This is a great opportunity for every single child in Reception to share some of their favourite things from home with the bear and then with the class. Please send us your photos via email to wdoffice@newwavefederation.co.uk  or print them yourself and add a few comments in the journal. Please return Everywhere Bear on the Monday.

Next week we will be exploring where we live. To help us with our activities, please also send/print off a photo of your child outside their front door. Please remember to return book bags with both books every Monday so we can exchange them and add any additional resources to support you at home. If the books are not returned, we will not exchange them.

Please ensure your child is wearing the correct school uniform. Blue jumpers with white shirts and black bottoms and shoes need to be worn throughout the school day.

Thank you to all the parents who joined us for our Reading Parent Workshop on Thursday. Look out for the next parent workshop coming soon. Wishing you a lovely weekend.

Best wishes from the Reception Team

Photo of Front Door

Next week we are exploring our local area and describing where we live. We would love a photo of your child at their front door so we can add it to their work. Please print/bring in or send us a photo of this to the school office with your child’s name and class. Please send it to: wdoffice@newwavefederation.co.uk

Spare Clothes

Please ensure your child has a spare change of clothes available on their peg every day. This is in case of any accidents or wet/messy play. As the weather is getting wetter, it is essential!

Reading Books

Please ensure that your child brings their book bag  with BOTH books to school every Monday so that we can exchange their phonics and reading for pleasure book for a new one!
