Dear Families,
This week we have learnt about Georgie’s village and how it is different to a city and the city we live in. We were very creative, sculpting our own clay water pots and weaving our own Kente cloths! On Friday, we celebrated World Book Day. We came into school dressed as favourite book characters, completed activities based on our favourite authors. We had so much fun reading, sharing favourite stories and creating our own book marks and stories! We had lots of special adults reading to the children and even had a fashion show and parade. What a fun day celebrating reading! In maths, we continued to look at teen numbers to 20.
Next week, we look forward to hosting our own charity event to raise money for WaterAid inspired by our story, "Water Princess". We will be selling our freshly made lemonade on Wednesday at 3pm in the Reception playground! Any donations welcome however small!
Have a lovely weekend.
Best wishes,
The Reception Team
Click on the picture below to listen to the story with your child, then ask them the suggested questions.
"How is Georgie's village different to a city?"
Can you sing along to our song of the week?
We have learnt the words below this week. Can you ask your child the suggested questions to encourage them to use the words in a sentence?
This week we have been exploring Teen numbers- We practised counting on from 15 and representing teen numbers using ten frames, cubes and numicon!
Practise the sounds we have learnt this week with your child by clicking on the pictures below. The more opportunities they have to see, hear and say the sounds, the more likely they are to stick. The videos will teach you too! Then practise learning to blend with Fred talk.
Try out one or both of these activities with your child this weekend. Please send us any photos you take or bring your child's learning into school - we'd love to see them!
Packed Lunch
If your child is having a packed lunch, please let a member of the team know so we can ensure it is put on the lunch trolley and that the Midday Meal Supervisors are aware. Remember to ensure your child has a healthy lunch with no nuts or sesame!
Morning Drop Off
A polite reminder that no parents should be entering the school building during the morning drop off. Please let a member of your class team know if there is any issue or if you would like to speak with them.
