Week ending: Friday 22nd March 2024

Dear Families,

Reception have been fascinated with our new topic "Spring" where this week, we have learnt how plants grow. We have learnt the different parts of a flower and the life cycle of a plant. The children were so excited and inquisitive conducting their own experiment where we also planted cress seeds and monitored their growth over the week. We have some fantastic gardeners too!

In Maths, we have explored sharing into equal groups including finding half of an amount and consolidated counting and representing teen numbers. Please continue to practise everyday counting with your child! The children's independent reading and writing skills have truly blossomed this term- we are so proud! It is imperative to practise reading their RWI books/ditty story sheets and complete their sound of the day sheet if you can. Please encourage your child to return them for a class token! We are very excited to share with you all the incredible progress the children have made during Parent Consultations next week. Thank you to all parents who joined us for our Parent Workshop and Family Friday sessions. We look forward to many more next term!

A reminder that next week is our final week before the Easter break. We break up on Thursday at 2pm. We will return to school on the Tuesday 16th April.

Have a lovely weekend.

Best wishes,

The Reception Team

Our Maths Learning this week

This week, we have been learning how to share into equal groups. We know that equal means the same amount. We practised sharing into groups of 3 and groups of 5 equally. We know to check how many is in each group to see if it is equal.

Our Phonics Learning this week

Practise the sounds we have learnt this week with your child by clicking on the pictures below. The more opportunities they have to see, hear and say the sounds, the more likely they are to stick. The videos will teach you too! Then practise learning to blend with Fred talk.
