Week ending Friday 6th January, 2023

Dear Families,

Welcome back to our new term and Happy New Year! We hope you had a wonderful Christmas break. We have had a great first few days settling the children back into school routines and welcome Ms Dickinson to the team! We started a new topic: Contrasting Countries. We have been learning about the country of Jamaica and finding out how it is similar or different to where we live in the UK. We did research to find out what the capital of each country is, the language spoken, money used there, weather, food eaten and what the towns and houses are like. We enjoyed playing in the small world, a Jamaican beach scene and working together to fish out water pollution from the sea just like our new story "Clean Up". We even had a taste of some exotic fruit and described what it was like. In maths, we looked at counting on and back within 10 on a number line. We practised finding one more and one less. Have a lovely weekend!

Best wishes from the Reception Team

Remember to start on the first number (your first part), count back or on your second number (your second part) and see where you land! That's your answer.
