Endocrine System

Why's it important?: The videos below will highlight functions and glands that make up the endocrine system... It is important to understand these concepts and functions because it will be on the first exam! Not only will they be on the exam, future material will always refer back to hormones!

HORMONES

When it comes to hormones, one way to understand where hormones are released and what other organs are targeted, is to create concept maps. The concept maps will highlight what organ a hormone is being released from, where it is going, as well as what it intends to do.

So, why is it important?

Being able to make concept maps will be a life-saver (and time saver) when it comes to learning these glands and the hormones they release and the organs they target!

"So, I looked at the information and I'm just going to figure out the concept maps at home." You can do that, BUT if you come into the Learning Center and have a tutor help you, a tutor can generally point you in the direction of what is most important to focus on and give you facts that may not be found in your book... Also, a tutor in the Learning Center can walk you through the concepts of each organ, the hormones and why they are targeting the specific target organ.

STUDY TIPS

Recall material from Biology 67A.... Some important points to remember are:

Cardiovascular Overview

So, why is it important that I look at this information?: This information will give you a good background knowledge on the heart and cardiac cycle and allow you to move onto more complex physiology!

Check out the videos to get an idea of how the heart works and a explanation of the cardiac cycle! The cardiac cycle is tricky, so taking notes may be a good idea!

"Alright, I looked at the videos and have the basic understanding.. I think." Don't just "think" you understand the material... Ask a tutor and have the tutor quiz you on what you should know! The Cardiovascular System is tricky to understand, so a tutor can help you through the simpler physiology, but also get you on track to understanding the difficult physiology!

A very short, concise info graphic on the cardiac cycle. If you learn better by looking at diagrams and pictures, this helps. (Kam, 2019)

This sums up nicely what ions are involved in the cardiac depolarization process and how the membrane potential changes.

Want to test your knowledge on the Cardiovascular Systems and Blood?

Why its important: So, as you know after taking 67A, these quizzes are great study tools! The information on these quizzes come from information that Chooljian talks about in class.... so the concepts are definitely test-worthy material!

Click the links below to access the quizzes! Goodluck!

Come into the Learning Center and ask a tutor to go over the quiz with you. A tutor will be more than happy to walk through each quiz question and why each answer is the answer and why other supplied answers are not. This is good to do, so you understand why the answer is what it is!

Test your knowlege on the Unit 3 Material! (Respiratory and Urinary)

Click the quizzes below to see how much you know! Goodluck!

Can you "digest" the facts about the Digestive system?

Take the quiz and find out!
