Mission Statement:

Create a welcoming, friendly, resourceful environment where students are not afraid to fail, and try again.

Vision Statement:

Help students grow their understanding of economics beyond the abstract, and dispel the intimidation associated with economic terminology and concepts.

The First Experiment (Cycling): The first social psychology and sport psychology experiment was conducted by Norman Triplett in the 1890s. He studied why cyclists sometimes rode faster when they raced in groups or pairs than when they rode alone.

Early Female Pioneer: One of the first women to both practice sport psychology and conduct research was Dorothy Hazeltine yates. During World War II, she consulted with university boxers and taught them how to use her relaxation-set method to enhance performance.

The ABCs of Psychology: Sport and exercise psychology examines the ABCs of psychology: Affect (one’s feelings), Behavior (one’s actions), and Cognitions (one’s thoughts).

The "Mental Coach": Educational sport psychology specialists are often referred to as a "mental coach" because they educate athletes and exercisers about psychological skills (like confidence development or anxiety management).
