Here’s a link to a really clear explanation of what the cross product is. Please note that the formula they have on the website for the cross product is just one of the formulas we can use to find it. This picture shows another formula that you can use that might be more familiar.

Lagrange Multipliers
Here are two genuinely helpful videos on Lagrange multipliers.
The first is by The Organic Chemistry Tutor who, despite his name, makes lots of videos for STEM subjects.
He goes through various practice problems, some of which might be very similar to your homework.
The second video is a Khan Academy video that offers a more conceptual explanation into what a Lagrange multiplier is and its uses.
