Learn and UNDERSTAND the accounting cycle, Debits and Credits, and accounts for journal entries. Familiarize yourself with these concepts!!!
It's okay if you feel frustrated. It takes time to learn the accounting concepts!

Attend class! This is the best way to understand the content!
Do the homework and his worksheets! Practice, practice, practice!
Go to his office hours! Reaching out one-on-one is the best way to learn, especially if you're confused on content.
Practice the sample exams!!! This is the best way to study for his exams! Take the time to learn what is on the exams. Don't try to regurgatate answers.
DS 71- In General
No matter the professor, ALWAYS LEARN THE FORMULAS AND FAMILIARIZE YOURSELF WITH FORMULAS!
Practice, practice, practice!! Always practice the homework before the exam!
Refer back to the textbook for sample problems and explanations!
Utilize your resources if you need additional support: YouTube videos, your textbook, class PowerPoint, worksheets, etc.
Reach out to your professor via email or go to office hours if you need more clarification!
DS 73 & DS 123- James Taylor
Not only should you attend class and take notes, but don't forget to ask questions as well!
In your class worksheets, make sure to write notes on the side (e.g. how to find "X"). This is helpful for studying the material later!
Don't rush through the homework. Take your time to understand the concepts. Go at your own pace!
When working on problems in class, on the homework, or during the exam, analyze the problem. Underline or write what you know, what you need to find, and when dealing with normal distribution curves, draw it out!
DS 123 - Aimee Jacobs
Review the syllabus to see how the grade is broken down.
Attend every class to follow along with the professor as she fills out the worksheets that needs to be submitted.
Go to the Learning Center as the professor offers 1 extra credit point for every tutoring visit.
Do not procrastinate your Homework.
Do the practice pre-exams, and post-exams review questions found in Pearson. This will prepare you for your exams.
IS 52 & IS 52 Lab - In General
IS 52 Lecture:
ATTEND LECTURE → this is the best way to learn key components for the exam!
Find a way to memorize the key concepts! Quizlet is a good platform to create virtual flashcards and review through fun games and practice with a mock exam of the terms!
Go to office hours! → this is extremely helpful to get extra help from the professor on a personal level; you can review previous exams or ask for more clarification on a concept!
IS 52 Lab:
Practice the Microsoft simulations (for Word, Excel, and Access)! This is the best way to familiarize yourself with the applications (especially if you're not used to Microsoft applications).
GOOGLE IS YOUR BEST FRIEND! You can Google steps on how to do something and walkthroughs will pop-up to assist you :)
Don't wait last minute to get the homework/practice done! The longer you wait, the less likely you'll remember the steps.
MGT 110 - William Bommer
For lecture:
Pay attention to lectures!! → Whatever Dr. Bommer is talking about and going on a tangent, more than likely, it'll be featured on the exams
Take notes of the videos Dr. Bommer plays in class! More than likely, it will be mentioned in the exam.
Take good lecture notes. Focus more on what Dr. Bommer says and try to write down what's on the slides. It might feel rushed, but it'll help prepare you for the exam.
Read the textbook! Dr. Bommer wrote the textbook, so he WILL ask questions related to the textbook.
For lab: GO TO LAB!!! These are easy points :)
For virtual:
Contracts: be as specific as possible in the group contract
Meetings: take good meeting notes to reflect back to (this is your evidence to show who is participating or not in the group)
Time and meeting: try to be flexible and understanding, but set firm meeting dates.
Every group experiences something different! Be a team player for your group!
MKTG 100S - In General
Tips for Service Learning Project:
Make sure you practice good communication with your teams! Set expectations and goals to ensure success.
Be firm when making decisions! Sometimes, you will have to make difficult decisions to ensure your group succeeds.
Set hard deadlines for yourself and your team members.
Make sure you stay on task! Don't procrastinate on the service learning paper and working with your CBO.
Maintain professionalism. This is important when working with your CBO and with your group.
Be accountable for your own actions. Everyone has to pull their own weight, so it is important to hold yourself accountable for your actions.
Take meeting minutes! This is insurance for you and your group in case someone does not follow through with deadlines, or if someone needs a refresher on what to do.
