1/4/2014
The new 2014 GED test went into effect on 1/1/2014. This new assessment has been added to the list of assessments in LACES.
GED Test Center 2002 was phased out as of 12/31/2013. Students who did not complete or pass the old GED on or before 12/31/2013 will be required to take the new GED test.
IMPORTANT NOTE: GED Test Center 2002 tests may not be entered after 12/31/2013, and the new 2014 GED may not be entered prior to 1/1/2014. A message will display on the assessment card indicating that the dates for each test must be valid.
For more information regarding the changes and updates to the GED, please go to: GED Testing Service
The new 2014 GED has 4 subtests, and a new passing score range. Students will have to earn a score of at least 150 on each subtest, with a total score of at least 600 in order to pass the test.
Students who took the GED Test Center 2002 assessment on or prior to 12/31/2013, met all requirements to be NRS reportable, and left, will be included in the Obtain GED or secondary school diploma cohort. However, students who did not pass all of the subtests on or prior to 12/31/2013 will be required to take and pass the new GED in order to show that they achieved the cohort outcome.
The new 2014 GED assessment will populate cohorts after the 2014.1 release on 1/4/2014.
The HiSET is a new high school equivalency assessment that went into effect on 1/1/2014. Some states have adopted the HiSET assessment as an alternative to the GED. For more information regarding the HiSET, please go to: The HiSET Exam
Currently the HiSET is listed on the assessment list in the assessment folder and scaled scores may be entered.
IMPORTANT NOTE: The HiSET test scores may not be entered on date prior to 1/1/2014. A message will display on the assessment card indicating that the date for the test must be valid.
Because the HiSET is a new assessment with cohort requirements, it will not be fully incorporated into LACES until the 4th quarter of the 13/14 FY.
4th quarter:
Total score will populate
HiSET retakes will be added
Cohorts will populate
The HiSET will be added to the Type list in the Diploma Info folder
An Enter Postsecondary Education or Training cohort will populate when the HiSET is taken and passed while the student is enrolled
The HiSET will show a student as Completed High Adult Secondary when the student's entry level is High Adult Secondary
The 2014 GED and HiSET assessments have been added to the Student General Assessment search
