English/ PYP
In our PYP work over term 4 we have focused on the continent of Antarctica, where we have dove into our lines of inquiry to explore the polar region including; where it is in the world, the landscape and how people are able to travel and navigate to this region.
For our English we have focus on non-fiction where we have researched and completed work about the people who have explored Antarctica and the south pole. We began this unit of work by discussing the different places we have visited around the world on holiday before picking somewhere we would like to visit using a globe. We then conducted research of our own about the country or place in order to find out key facts and information about the region. We then moved onto learning about the famous Antarctic explorer Ernest Shackleton who wanted to be the first ever human to reach the South Pole, where we had to locate the correct information to be able to write a fact file about his adventures and life.
