Special Education Activity Summary
This section is mainly for determining if Special Ed activity is open or closed. It is populated based on the Services section. In other words, if a service is opened in the Services section, it will then automatically populate that Entry Date in this Special Ed Activity section.
Special Education Activity View/Edit
Clicking the pencil icon -- it is unlabeled on the table -- will navigate to the Special Education Activity View/Edit page, with the following fields:
Entry Date *
Exit Date
Exit Reason
Reevaluation Decline Date
The Entry Date should already exist and correspond to the first service date entered.
If a student’s SPED activity has been closed and services start again, the date will reflect the same date as the new service started.
Exit Date can be entered manually or by using the small calendar icon.
The Exit Date and other fields should only be entered when closing Special Ed. Activity.
The Exit Reason dropdown offers these options:
Transferred to Regular Education
Death
Dropped Out
Moved Out of State/Kwn to be Continuing
HS Diploma (Regular Assessment)
HS Diploma (Alternate Assessment - Jumpstart)
HS Diploma (Alternate Assessment - Grandfathered)
Non-Diploma Certificate of Achievement
Reached 22nd Birthday or Previously Earned Diploma
Louisiana High School Equivalency Diploma (LHSD)
Non-Diploma LHSD & Industry Based Skills Certificate
Revocation of Consent
Non-Diploma LHSD & State Approved Skills Certificate
Other
The Reevaluation Decline Date is grayed out unless an Exit Reason has been chosen.
Click Save to commit the data, and it will populate in the Special Education Activity Summary table.
Clicking the pencil icon in the Special Education Activity Summary table will navigate to the Special Education Activity View/Edit page.
This section is meant to be used primarily when exiting Special Education Activity.
The Entry and Exit dates can be changed or entered here, and the Exit Reason chosen from the dropdown.
The Reevaluation Decline Date is an optional field. It will unlock depending on options chosen from the Exit Reason dropdown.
Click Save to commit the data, then click Return to Summary to go back to the Summary table.
Further confirmation of the changes can be seen by going to Student > Service, and viewing the Student Service Summary table.
Best practice is to always end services before ending Sped activity. However, should Sped Activity be closed first, it will automatically end services with the termination reason associated with the Sped activity exit code.
When applicable, ending SPED activity will also automatically close jurisdiction. The exception to this is closing SPED activity when selecting transfer to regular education. Because there can be two service termination reasons, you must select a service termination reason first. This allows the program to then know if jurisdiction will be closing for a transfer to regular education student.
See this list of SPED activity exit codes and service termination codes.
See the Evaluations section for how to modify an unfinished Evaluation and close Services.
The following two screenshots are from the Service section.
Here the Exit Date should match what was entered in the Special Education Activity View/Edit page.
A column or field may be labeled Exit Date or End Date. It refers to the same date.
If changes need to be made, or the Termination Reason modified, that can be done here.
Click Save to commit the data.

SPED activity not opened
SPED activity is usually opened when a Service is started. If there is a problem, go back to the Service page and resave the service. Then go back and check that SPED activity is open. The date can be edited at that point also, if needed.
